From time to time, a few concepts invite reflection:
Kitsch — something in poor taste, created using artistic means of expression
Artificial object — a man-made item, artificial by nature
Artefact — a crafted object made using artistic techniques
Handicraft — a handmade item that combines function and decoration
Industrial form — a design object of high aesthetic value, intended for mass production
Work of art — the tangible result of the artist’s creative process
Priceless work of art — the economically valuable, tangible result of the artist’s creative process
The artist-painter thinks like a monk: he creates works of art and dreams that, one day — many years after his death — they will become priceless. The monk dreams of being declared blessed, years after his death. These are among the most difficult dreams.
One may choose to abandon dreams of creating works of art—though such dreams often serve future generations. Yet in doing so, the deeper meaning of the concepts work of art and priceless work of art may become harder to grasp.
